Event Highlights

Jai Shree Jagannatha🙏

The festivities starts with Snana Purnima followed by the main event, Shree Gundicha Yatra/Ratha Yatra/ Chariot Festival and finally culminating with the return of the deities to their abode, known as Bahuda Yatra.

The first event Snana Purnima will be conducted at the current abode where Shree Jagannatha is residing with Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Lord Sudarshana, at Shree Ram Temple, Southall.

Rath Yatra will be celebrated with all rituals at 3rd Upton Scout Headquarters, where you will have the opportunity to pull the Chariot with thousands of devotees. Please join the celebration on 28th June with your friends and Family.

The deities will stay for 9 days at Slough hindu temple(SL1 2XU) which will represent Maa Gundicha temple of Puri. Bahuda jatra (the retun journey of Mahaprabhu to their original place) will take place on 5th of July in Slough hindu temple..

 

Program Schedule:

11:00 AM - 11:30 AM: Ratha Pratishtha (Establish the Ratha / Chariot and to sanctify it before the Lords get seated in the Ratha.)


11:30 AM - 11:45 AM: Puja & Arati (Prayers to Lords before the start of Pahandi to get them seated in the Ratha.)


12:00 PM - 12:45 PM: Pahandi Bije (Procession to carry the deities from their place to Ratha. Get to carry the lord to the chariot.)


12:45 PM - 1:15 PM: Chhera Panhara (King performs as a sweeper in this ceremony, and he sweeps (chhera) and cleans (panhara) all around the rathas with a gold-handled broom while spraying sandalwood powder and water.)

 

1:30 - 3:00 PM: Ratha Tana (Chariot Pulling) (Pulling of the Ratha / Chariot to take the Lords to their aunt's house. This will be done 3 times to symbolise 3 Rathas/Chariots. Offerings from people.)

 

2:00 PM - 3:30 PM: Prasad Sevan (Prasad will be served to people attending the festival)
